| Courtney first fell in love with the majestic sound of the tuba when she was attending Huron Heights Secondary School in Newmarket, Ontario. While obtaining her Bachelors Degree in Music Performance at the University of Toronto, she could be heard playing with such ensembles as the Hannaford Street Youth Band, the Intrada Brass Band, the Toronto Youth Wind Ensemble, the Etobicoke Philharmonic and the Huronia Symphony. In 2005 she performed in “the Enchanted Forest”, the ninth chapter in Murray R Schafer’s the Patria. Courtney completed her Masters in Music Performance at Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois, studying under the world renowned professor, Rex Martin. She also has had the opportunity to travel across Canada from Vancouver BC in the west, to Halifax NS in the east and Iqaluit in the north with the National Band of the Naval Reserve playing euphonium, bass trombone and tuba. Today she can be found appearing with the Hannaford Street Silver Band, the Trillium Brass Quintet, Mississauga Symphony, Peterborough Symphony, Hart House Jazz Ensemble or HMSC York Naval Reserve Band, or teaching students in lower brass technique in her home studio or in the Private Lesson Program at St. Michael's College School or at the Canadian Forces Base Bordon Reserve Summer School.
